As a Design Director, Art Director and Brand Manager, I’ve had the pleasure to work with and lead many talented designers.

Jonathan Myers
Principle Designer at Logos

My part

One of the most important roles I play as a design leader is recognizing extraordinary talent — and then creating space for it to thrive. Jonathan is one of the most gifted designers I’ve ever worked with. His ability to deliver world-class, high-craft design at incredible speed still amazes me. I had the privilege of directing him as the principal designer on the Logos (Bible Tech) rebrand — where his work elevated the brand to a level that could compete with the best in the global tech space, not just within Christian media.

What stands out even more than his talent is his humility. Jonathan approaches every challenge with quiet confidence, deep expertise, and zero ego. As a leader, my job is to remove barriers, give trust, and push talented people to go even further. With Jonathan, that meant giving him room to run — and the results were nothing short of exceptional.

Eleazar Ruiz
Founder & Creative Director at Odd Notion. A B Corp and award-winning branding agency.

My part

Eleazar Ruiz is one of those rare talents I had the privilege of leading early in his journey. Even then, it was clear he was destined to lead — I remember saying, half-joking but fully meaning it, ‘someday I’ll be working for you.’ My role wasn’t to shape his vision, but to recognize it, challenge it, and create space for it to grow. Leading Eleazar taught me a lot about what it means to lead other leaders — to support without overshadowing, and to steward potential with both humility and clarity.

He’s gone on to do remarkable things — founding the award-winning brand studio Odd Notion, leading projects for global clients like Nike, Microsoft, Lyft, and Xbox, and becoming a sought-after voice in purpose-driven design. Watching his journey has been a reminder that great leadership isn’t about taking credit — it’s about recognizing greatness early and helping make room for it.

  • When I met Brittany she had just been promoted from a Production Designer to a Designer. But it was obvious at that point, she was a leader. Brittany worked her way up to a Managing Art Director. Whatever it is, she will get the job done and lead others to come with her. She has a special combination of talent and determination that I admire.

  • Brittany was a Jr. Art Director for an in-house publisher (Lexham Press) under my mentorship before she took over my role and guided the Lexham Press brand to new heights.

Bryan is an outstanding creative director and mentor. Under his leadership I was able to learn and grow so much, eventually taking on a leadership role of my own. His design critique is perceptive and patient, continually investing in designers and their growth. He is highly capable and able to get to the core of any creative problem, envision the path forward, and recruit the team along with him. I’d love to work under his leadership again, and any creative team would be lucky to have him.

  • Josh is one of those designers who just has that ability to touch something and it turns to gold. He makes it seems effortless (though it’s not). Maybe more impressive, is his ability to communicate ideas with confidence, and influence decisions.

I remember reflecting with our Design Director after interviewing Josh for a Senior Designer position, he said, “that guy is just the salt of the earth kinda guy, we need to hire him.” It was a good read and a fitting description.

  • Josh grew from a Senior Designer to a Principal Designer / Art Director in the time I was his manager.

I reported directly to Bryan for nearly 4 years and he was an outstanding, empathetic manager and mentor. Bryan's brand thinking is sharp and layered with rich insight. He's resilient, adaptable, and holds himself to a high standard of both work ethic and integrity.

Bryan is one of the best leaders I’ve served under, design or otherwise. He has an almost unbelievable ability to pinpoint specific areas of growth in a designer, and consistently coach them into excellence. I owe so much of my own growth in both design craft and creative leadership to Bryan’s mentoring. On top of it all, he fostered a healthy culture that both challenged and cared for his team members, and it’s an example I’m still inspired by every day with my own team.

  • Lydia joined our team as an intern, fresh out of college. She quickly worked her way to a Senior Designer who could be trusted to take on any task without oversight. Driven by a curiosity and humility that generates growth, Lydia has become a powerhouse designer with a wide array of skillsets from Illustration to Identity design. She is a top-tier professional on every level.

Lydia now runs her own successful free lance design studio and is an Author/Illustrator.

  • Lydia was our team’s go-to designer for anything big or small.

“You will not come across another leader like Bryan. He is the epitome of leading by example. He taught me how to ask the right questions by always bringing design thinking to the table. He has role-model-level design skills. Most impactful of all though is the kind and generous spirit he brings to every conversation and design review.”

I saw up close Bryan’s exceptional vision and unique ability to lead others in a way that brings out the best in them. He encouraged me to push creative boundaries while always providing the support necessary to accomplish projects. He entrusted me with just enough to help me grow but made a point of remaining involved and aware of projects. Bryan is the type of person with incredible skill balanced with an ability to make those around him better.

His contribution to our company led to an exceptionally high NPS score, and his skill with brand is truly extraordinary. I would recommend him as a designer, leader, director, brand strategist, and much more without hesitation, and I would eagerly welcome the opportunity to work with him again.

George Linkedin

My part

It’s been a blessing to lead and mentor designers like George. When he joined my team as a junior, I made it a priority to create an environment where he could grow — offering guidance, trust, and meaningful challenges. George did the hard work, and in just over a year, he advanced to a senior designer role — a rare and inspiring trajectory. He later went on to bring his talents to Microsoft as a Systems and UX/UI Designer. I don’t take credit for his success, but I’m grateful to have played a role in his journey. As a leader, I see it as my responsibility — and calling — to help others grow into their full potential.
